Booking the best vacation property experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Ocracoke area. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Ocracoke area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing and booking yourrental home:
- Start by having your group commit to date ranges and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Poker House: Waterfront home on a canal in Oyster Creek. has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Tips to have a fantastic stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
