Tips to get the perfect Ocracoke vacation home experience:
How to get the best value:
- The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Ocracoke area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking the perfectvacation home:
- To start, have your group decide on dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Southern Comfort: Pet Friendly, tucked among live oaks, salt marsh views. has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, call the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is right for your vacation group.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Ocracoke beach you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
