Tricks and tips to get the very best Ocracoke vacation property experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Ocracoke. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Ocracoke area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the perfect rental home in Ocracoke:

  • Select your dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Red Beard's Retreat Suite 3 - Private 1QBR 1Bath 2nd floor suite, Q sleeper sofa has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is best for your vacation.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your contract.

More considerations:

  • Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
