Ocracoke vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • In the Ocracoke area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Ocracoke area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the perfect rental in Ocracoke:

  • Select your dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Daydreamer: Reverse floorplan home offering three master bedrooms. has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your group.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a certain Ocracoke beach you crave, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
