Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Ocracoke area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Conched Out: Close to Ocracoke's beaches, screened porch, deck views has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
