How to find the best Ocracoke rental home experience:
When to reserve a Ocracoke rental home & When to go:
- Summer months are high season in the Ocracoke area. To book the best vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Ocracoke restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Ocracoke area visitors guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your search:
- Select dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Havana Cabana; Pet Friendly and family friendly home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Ocracoke rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your group.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas during check in. Contact the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
