Getting the best Ocracoke vacation home experience:

When to visit Ocracoke & When to reserve a Ocracoke rental home:

  • Summertime is high season in the Ocracoke area. Book your Ocracoke vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Ocracoke area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and choosing a perfect Ocracoke rental:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Beachfront Beauty on Northern Pond has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
