Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Ocracoke rental home experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • To get the most suitable rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Ocracoke visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Finding the best vacation rental in the Ocracoke area:

  • Choose your vacation week and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Sound Advice: Soundfront with panoramic views of colorful sunsets. has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. message the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
