Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local tours and attractions.

Finding the perfect rental in the Ocracoke area:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Cole Bin: Located on a quiet street in Ocracoke has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, email the property management company before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a particular Ocracoke beach you are crazy about, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
