Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Ocracoke vacation property experience:
How to get the best value:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Ocracoke. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Ocracoke area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the best vacation home:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Cottage, great for a couple or small family. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your family.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Have a wonderful stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
