Booking the best vacation home experience:

- In the Ocracoke area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Ocracoke area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First, have your family select dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Harbor III: Views of the lighthouse and Silver Lake. has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, email the host before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If there's a specific Ocracoke destination you love, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
