Ocracoke rental booking tips:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer time is high season in the Ocracoke area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- In the Ocracoke area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Ocracoke area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and picking your prefect Ocracoke vacation home:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beverly's House: Dog friendly convenient to Silver Lake Harbor has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
