Strategies to get the optimal Ocracoke vacation property experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Ocracoke rental home:

  • Summer time is high season in Ocracoke. Booking your Ocracoke vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Ocracoke area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing the perfect rental in the Ocracoke area:

  • To start, have your family decide on the best dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Two If By Sea II: Fabulous views of Silver Lake. has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
