Tips to get the perfect Ocracoke vacation property experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • In the Ocracoke area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • To get the best rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Ocracoke restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Ocracoke area visitors guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. SeaClusion I: Two-story vacation rental duplex has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or might be applied to your contract.
  • If there's a specific Ocracoke beach you crave, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

More considerations:

  • We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
