Tips and Tricks for getting the best Ocracoke vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To get the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Ocracoke visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Sound Breeze: Contemporary canal front, screened porch, decks. has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or might be applied to your contract.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
