Our top Rental property booking tips:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Ocracoke vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Ocracoke area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting and booking a perfect Ocracoke vacation home:

  • Start by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Paws and Relax: Pet Friendly, Canalfront with boat dock has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Ocracoke rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
