Ocracoke vacation rental tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Ocracoke area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the best rental home in Ocracoke:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Screened Porch has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.

Tips for your stay:

- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
