Ok, (not really).... when we were looking to buy, this place was listed for $110,000,000 (which was a typo) and the place was a DUMP!!! While under construction, we referred to it as the "million dollar double wide" and the name stuck, just didn't seem right to call it anything else. The home has been COMPLETELY refreshed from top to bottom. New Bathrooms, New bedrooms, New Kitchen, New exterior....... List goes on and on. We really feel like we have spent a million bucks on it. Located in the heart of the village, Its a short walk or bicycle ride to all the eateries and stores. Bicycle rental is across the street, coffee shop is 3 blocks away. Golf cart units are available in numerous locations on the island. There is a humongous covered porch with a walkway to it. Out back we have an outdoor shower with a walkway to the porch.

The home has a master bedroom, with a queen size bed, and master bathroom with a shower.
Bedroom number 2, has a FULL(double) size bunk bed set. Sleeps 4 comfortably.

Tricks and tips to get the perfect Ocracoke rental experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • In the Ocracoke area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Ocracoke. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Ocracoke vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many rental management companies supply Ocracoke area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • To start, have your family choose trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. MILLION DOLLAR DOUBLE WIDE!!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges applied to your invoice.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

During your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
