Ok, (not really).... when we were looking to buy, this place was listed for $110,000,000 (which was a typo) and the place was a DUMP!!! While under construction, we referred to it as the "million dollar double wide" and the name stuck, just didn't seem right to call it anything else. Golf cart units are available in numerous locations on the island. There is a humongous covered porch with a walkway to it. Out back we have an outdoor shower with a walkway to the porch.

Our top Rental home tips:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Ocracoke area. To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Ocracoke attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Ocracoke area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose the perfectrental:
- Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. MILLION DOLLAR DOUBLE WIDE!!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's an individual Ocracoke attraction you simply love, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. message the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
