Our top Vacation rental booking tips:

Finding the best value:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Ocracoke area travel guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and picking the right Ocracoke vacation home:

  • Select vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Dog Friendly close to Ocracoke's beaches, screened porch, deck views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Ocracoke rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or might be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's a specific Ocracoke destination you simply love, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
