Getting the best Ocracoke rental home experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • In the Ocracoke area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer is high season in the Ocracoke area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Ocracoke area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning and picking the perfect Ocracoke rental:

  • Choose dates and budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Beachy Keen: Single story home with screened porch has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Ocracoke beach you long to visit, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
