Strategies to get the optimal Ocracoke vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the Ocracoke area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Ocracoke area. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and pick the perfect Ocracoke rental:

  • Begin by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Stromayer Cottage: Enjoy this cabin like home, simplistic design. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. Otherwise, call the host before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Ocracoke destination you are crazy about, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
