Strategies for getting the perfect rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Ocracoke attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in the Ocracoke area:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. SeaClusion II: Two-story vacation rental duplex has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
- If there's a specific Ocracoke destination you simply love, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
