There is a reason Ocracoke is rated the best beach in America, come find out why at The Sea Monkey;)! Take respite on comfortable beds in a wooded peaceful relaxing corner of Wahab village in the center of Ocracoke. Walking and cycling distance to all the best eateries with the tram stop at the park half a block from my home, if you want to ride down back road to Zillies for a glass of wine or beer;)! Stroll over to ride the wind and rain some kayaks or take a tour!
Bicycle down the road for a walk around the Live Oak Maritime Forest where Blackbeard himself had a secret pirate lair!
Or simply head out to the beach for some fun in the Sun.
Ocracoke has it all-from offshore fishing, shelling, body surfing, extraordinary eateries and great music, great brewery, striking shore fishing, ghost tours, parasailing, clamming, sailing, a boaters heaven and of course world class kitesurfing.
For those interested I teach both Sailing and Kitesurfing lessons as well as offer excursions!

Tricks and tips to get the best Ocracoke rental experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your Ocracoke vacation home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Ocracoke area visitor guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beechwood, on the best beach in America ????????? has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. Otherwise, call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

During your stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
