Tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:

When to visit Ocracoke & When to reserve a Ocracoke rental home:

  • To get the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Ocracoke area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and choose your prefectrental home:

  • First and foremost, have your family select a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Olde Ocracoke Church: Light and airy featuring beautiful artist décor. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a specific Ocracoke attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Have a great stay:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
