Finding the best rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the largest vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Finding the best rental in Ocracoke:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Minnow: Waterfront efficiency cottage, hot tub, private sandy beach. has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
