Tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Ocracoke. Book your Ocracoke rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Ocracoke area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the best vacation rental in Ocracoke:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Aleta: Pet friendly, waterfront, perfect for two. Private docking. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
