The open-concept, loft-inspired layout and high ceilings allow for an abundance of natural light. Note, there is no separate mini-split system in this sleeping area, so the doors will likely need to stay open. Upstairs you'll find the primary suite with king bed, private bath with jetted tub, and access to a wrap-around observation deck where you can savor your morning coffee.

When you're ready to venture out, you won't have to go far to find a variety of shopping, dining and famed Ocracoke attractions. Treehouse Charlie is located on a peaceful street off Lighthouse Road, but less than a five-min. walk from Silver Lake Harbor and all the locally owned businesses that make this island community a one-of-a-kind destination.

Tips to get the best Ocracoke vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Booking your Ocracoke vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some owners offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Ocracoke area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the perfect rental home:

  • Start by selecting your trip dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Treehouse Charlie: Cute Cottage for Couples or Small Families has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

Advice for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
