Soundhouse is a sweet, vintage bungalow on the usually peaceful North Pond with it’s own sandy beach. SoundHouse has been owned by the same local family since 1972. The owner resides close by. It features a shady front porch and a back porch with a great handsome waterfront view, overlooking your own little sandy beach. Great for kayaking, paddle boarding, an simple walk to ferry, museum, eateries, shopping and “downtown” waterfront with astounding sunset vistas. Limited to four people, no family pets, 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 2 queen beds, one twin, a enormous open plan kitchen, dining and living area. There is an outdoor shower and washer/dryer, but experience old Ocracoke by washing your dishes by hand, no dishwasher! Parking for two cars. Appreciate the soundside beach but please respect neighbor’s beachfront property lines, it’s not a community beach. We DO NOT allow powered or sailboats tied up or moored by guests of SoundHouse. This is stringently enforced. Smoking is not allowed inside SoundHouse. Smoking is allowed outside in the yard only. Events and sizable events are NOT allowed in SoundHouse. Do NOT store or charge electric bicycles on the property. There is space and charging available for golf carts.

All guests of SoundHouse are STRONGLY urged to purchase cancellation insurance when you book through Vacation Rental By Owner. Things happen. You want to be protected.

This property is offered by Premier Partner, Debbie Wells, who also manages two other Vacation Rental By Owner properties: The Studio #332656, and CanalHouse #2760936. All cottages are personally managed and locally owned and operated and feature great locations, clean and functional interiors and competitive pricing. We hope to see you!

Our top Vacation rental booking tips:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, shift your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Ocracoke area visitors guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the perfect rental in the Ocracoke area:

  • Select your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Sweet Waterfront Cottage, 4 person limit has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Ocracoke vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before you book your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is optimal for your family.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
