Soundhouse is a sweet, vintage bungalow on the usually peaceful North Pond with it’s own sandy beach. SoundHouse has been owned by the same local family since 1972. The owner resides close by. It features a shady front porch and a back porch with a great pretty waterfront view, overlooking your own little sandy beach. Smoking is allowed outside in the yard only. Events and enormous events are NOT allowed in SoundHouse.

All guests of SoundHouse are STRONGLY urged to purchase cancellation insurance when you book through Vacation Rental By Owner. Things happen. You want to be protected.

Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Ocracoke vacation rental experience:

Finding the best value:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Some owners offer special rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Ocracoke area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Sweet Waterfront Cottage, 4 person limit has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is best for your vacation family.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
