How to find the best rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your Ocracoke rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Ocracoke area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose and book the best Ocracoke rental home:
- Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Skynear: Private sweeping panorama of natural salt marsh and sound. has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a certain Ocracoke beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
Know before you go:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
