This bird walk takes place on Tuesday morning, and attendees will meet at the fish cleaning tables near ORV Ramp 44, which is the main entry to the famed Cape Point, and which is found just a mile or so past the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Once at the site, visitors will take a stroll through the salt marsh bird habitats that are abundant in the area to spot a wide array of birds that flock to the local shorelines and beyond. Visitors can be on the lookout for terns, plovers, and even wading birds and water birds while they explore, and a friendly ranger guide will provide detailed information on the types of birds in the area, as well as on the national seashore itself. Binoculars will be available, and all visitors will need to bring is their bug spray and sunscreen for a morning adventure in the Hatteras Island sun. A unique outing that’s ideal for visitors of all ages, this Bird Walk puts the island seashore in a scenic new perspective.
