Our top Ocracoke rental property booking tips:

When to reserve a Ocracoke rental & When to go:

  • Summer months are high season in the Ocracoke area. To find the largest vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Ocracoke restaurants and activities.
  • The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Ocracoke area travel guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the perfect rental home in the Ocracoke area:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Starry Night: Unobstructed marsh views from the screened porch. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Ocracoke vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a certain Ocracoke attraction you love, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
