Tricks and tips to get the very best Ocracoke rental home experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Ocracoke area. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Ocracoke vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies supply Ocracoke area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Ocracoke rental:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Wisteria Cottage: Covered porches, deck, and spacious screened porch. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation family.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Ocracoke attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
