Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Booking your Ocracoke vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Ocracoke area visitors guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking a perfect Ocracoke rental home:
- Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Harbor III: Views of the lighthouse and Silver Lake. has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If not, contact the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your group.
- If there's a specific Ocracoke beach you are crazy about, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
