
Ocracoke Island Visitor Center
Ocracoke Island Visitor Center, administered by the National Park Service, can be found at the southern end of Ocracoke Island, adjacent to the Ocracoke-Swan Quarter and Ocracoke-Cedar Island ferry docks. There is a gift shop that carries books and nature related item about Ocracoke Island, the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, and the history and culture of the Outer Banks. Public restrooms and picnic tables are available.

A series of exhibits interpret the history of Ocracoke including World War II and the British Cemetery, Ocracoke ponies, the United States Life Saving Service, lighthouses, pirates and the evolution of tourism. The Ocracoke Visitor Center is open daily, except Christmas. From Memorial Day through Labor Day it is the site of free educational programs relating to the Cape Hatteras National Seashore appropriate for all ages.
